CO-FOUNDER
With almost 20 years of experience in the fitness industry Scott Perry has successfully co-created 3 profitable group training gym concepts in California. His passion for music and group fitness found a home when he teamed up with Kenny Nguyen, and Marybeth Perry in 2017 combining forces to create one of the most unique and exciting boutique gym experiences. The brand has grown into a local house hold name as it continues to push the envelop by constantly evolving and creating new ways to wow the members. He believes through encouraged fitness, combined with music that fuels the soul, an ever growing community of people will become happier and lead healthier lives.

Co-Founder
From the beginning, Kenny is Motion Fitness Group’s managing partner overseeing technology, client & business data platforms, with primary focus on the company’s systems and processes. Prior to Motion Fitness Group, Nguyen was a Global Vice President at Foxconn Electronics, ran sales for a startup company in the wireless smartphone industry that sold in 2014; and worked from 2000 to 2011 as a Senior Executive for multibillion publicly traded Japanese manufacturing companies. During his time in corporate technology Nguyen closed relationships with Microsoft Xbox, AT&T, Blackberry, Samsung, Verizon, Ingram Micro, just to name a few. Nguyen attended Phoenix University studying Business Administration.

Trainer
Lakana is certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and has over three years of group training experience. She is very passionate about helping others become the best version of themselves, in and out of the studio. She will push you to your limits with a little sass and a big smile. When she’s not at Motion, you can find her under the sun, snowboarding, or eating AYCE sushi.

Don’t let Alex’s smile fool you, she’ll always push you to be your best. As a competitive swimmer, runner, and triathlete Alex has always had a passion for fitness. She studied kinesiology at SDSU and has a Masters degree in Sports Management from SMU. In addition to her multiple degrees she carries several certifications including certified trainer, certified nutrition coach, and a pain free performance specialist. She interned for the Los Angeles Chargers, Special Olympics, OC Magazine and Sports 1 before committing to her first love: fitness. Alex has 5 years of personal training and group fitness under her belt and is ready to deliver the good vibes! When she’s not at Motion she’s working on her swimwear line, GLDN which she launched with her mom.

Mariya is a dynamic NASM-Certified PT with 8+ years experience in coaching group fitness ranging from HIIT, Boxing, and Cycle. Most recently, Mariya was a Director of Content but decided to dive into her passion for coaching fitness full-time. Growing up playing basketball for 9 years and falling in love with movement, she’s all about progressively challenging you to be your most confident self (with a few bad jokes on the mic along the way). Outside of coaching, you can find her boxing, hiking, traveling, creating content, writing and more!

Born and raised here in Orange County, Evan grew up immersed in team sports, playing baseball, soccer, and basketball. Today, he channels that competitive spirit into Hyrox racing and running marathons. With two years of experience as a trainer, Evan specializes in strength and conditioning, as well as functional movement. When he’s not helping clients reach their fitness goals, you can find him out and about with his dog Bowser, hitting the trails, cheering for his favorite sports teams, or enjoying quality time with family.

A certified fitness professional(NASM), Melissa has over 10 years of experience in group training and personal fitness coaching. Her passion for health and wellness began in her childhood, where her love for sports ignited a lifelong journey into fitness. With a dynamic coaching style, Melissa is known for her high energy, motivating presence, and fun dance moves that will keep you engaged and excited about your workouts. Outside of coaching, Melissa loves spending time outdoors, whether it’s soaking up the sun, hiking new trails, or sharing quality time with her family and friends. With a deep belief in balance, Melissa enjoys living an active lifestyle and encouraging her clients to do the same, both in and out of the gym.

As a former Marine, Tommy brings a strong sense of dedication and a supportive mindset to every training session. His journey as both a personal and group trainer has deepened his commitment to helping individuals achieve their unique fitness goals. In his classes, he strives to create an uplifting environment where clients feel inspired to challenge themselves and push their limits. Guiding people on their fitness journeys is Tommy’s true passion, and he takes immense pride in watching people around him grow stronger, and become more confident every step of the way.

Built by Diggy — a full-time coach blending strength training and indoor cycling with high energy, real connection, and a little bit of chaos. Fitness became more than a passion in 2020, it became a purpose. This purpose is built on the belief that results happen faster when you feel supported, seen, and part of something bigger than yourself. In my classes, community comes first. Whether it’s your first class or your 500th, you’ll walk into a space where you’re welcomed, challenged, hyped up, and probably laughing mid-workout. Expect unhinged energy, hard workouts, loud music, sweaty high-fives, and a coach who pushes you because they genuinely want the best for you. We’re here to train hard, show up for each other, and prove fitness doesn’t have to feel intimidating to change your life.

Derek is a high-energy Group Trainer with 16+ years of experience delivering real results. Specializing in fat loss, strength, and conditioning, he brings an athletic, performance-based approach to every session. A former baseball athlete with a degree in Fitness Science from Arizona State and ISSA certification, Derek knows what it takes to push limits and build consistency. He’s all about one thing: helping you get better. Whether it’s burning fat, getting stronger, or leveling up your fitness, Derek brings the energy, accountability, and coaching to make it happen.

With a background in Kinesiology and a Master’s degree in Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine, Darren brings an integrative approach to strength and wellness coaching. He focuses on functional movement, mobility, strength, and overall holistic health - blending modern movement science with a deeper understanding of the body’s systems, recovery, and longevity. Passionate about helping others move and feel better, Darren emphasizes sustainable training, mindful nutrition, and building resilience both inside and outside the gym.

From Washington, D.C. to Chicago, and finally to SoCal, Joe’s fitness journey has taken him from the stage and performing action stunts to sports, coaching high-energy group classes, and leading personal training sessions. Certified by the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) and the American Council on Exercise (ACE), he brings a diverse toolkit to help you level up your routine- and he promises his playlists slap harder than any stunt double. With over six years of coaching experience, Joe’s philosophy is simple: it’s about progress. He’s dedicated to creating an environment where you can show up as you are, work hard, and experience true personal growth. He’ll push you to your limits and make sure you’re having a blast doing it. Outside of the gym, Joe is all about family: chasing after his kids, watching and playing sports, boxing, obstacle course racing, and loving cars.
